Pheasant is the name for the henlike BIRD of
the family Phasianidae. It is related to the
GROUSE, including the PARTRIDGE, the PEACOCK
some domestic and jungle fowl, and the true
pheasants (Genus Phasianus).
Pheasants are typified by wattled heads and
by their brilliant plumage and elaborate
courtship displays of the male.
