  1. Pheasant is the name for the henlike BIRD of
  2. the family Phasianidae. It is related to the
  3. GROUSE, including the PARTRIDGE, the PEACOCK
  4. some domestic and jungle fowl, and the true 
  5. pheasants (Genus Phasianus). 
  6. Pheasants are typified by wattled heads and
  7. by their brilliant plumage and elaborate
  8. courtship displays of the male.
